As a African American I didn't know what the song meant back in 1970 as a nine year old till I start listening to the lyrics of the song. It brings back memories as a kid who I thought and still think music from that era is better than any today's music and I'm unapologetic when I say that. Today's music still haven't and will never replaced those songs of the 70's, 60's and 80's as well.

As a Rocker, I can say that at the tender age of 12, this Song made me think, Cry, & really filled me with JOY❤🎉 AND STILL DOES. Ray thought it would flop, man was he wrong. What Joyful Noise!
