What is your favorite Symphonic Metal band?

Nightwish was my first, and I fell in love with them the minute I first heard them

My first band was Therion, absolutely fell in love with their sound in the first listen

My very first band was Within Temptation, then I discovered Nightwish, which became my favourite band. When Tarja left, replaced by Anette, I lost some interest in that band. I begann to favour Hammerfall alongside Epica and Within Temptation. When Floor took the stage with Nightwish, I was overwhelmed. Today my favourite band is Nightwish again.

I like that the uploader of this video included totally different levels of heavy. I came here looking for different flavours of symphonic metal and I found it.

The song "Mother Earth" by Within Temptation, featured in the Anime series "X", was the song that turned me into a metal fan many many years ago.
Today my favourite band is Nightwish, though. Place 2 in this list is quite good, but in my opinion they belong in first place. 😄

Epica is so fun live. Very touching. Followed them through Texas and met them twice. I have so much Epica tour merch. Dimmu is awesome live too.

Therion started it, Nightwish brought us Tarja, Epica and Floor's bands, Sirenia, Xandria, Dark Sarah and now we have also Ad Infinitum, with the marvelous singer Melissa Bonny. Death- Gothic and Powermetal can also have symphonic influences but would not call it Symphonic Metal.

How come I don't see Tristania in the comments (unless they're classified as gothic metal), albums such as Widow's Weeds, Beyond the Veil, World of Glass are phenomenal. Tiamat's Wildhoney is superb as well 🖤
