The problems are the same that we faced in the CDM study carried out under the directions of the then COSC in 2006. The political presence would be necessary even during designing of the theatre and higher defence structures. Indian military leadership still thinks at individual service level. The entire approach has to be through joint thinking process. Excellent discussions. Hope this reaches the current military and pol leadership.

The most technical session on the channel. For non military people (and even for most military people) it was way over the pay grade.

It was clear that the emphasis was on calling out the expected operational issues and ensure we hit the ground running.

AGILE as an implementation strategy should be used for THEATERISATION. Endless planning will be futile and future WARs won't wait 15 years to start.
Start implementing at high level and decide the responsible commanders from day 1.
Let them drive out the minute details under CDS and RM.
Service chiefs should serve and not hold onto power centers which might weaken India.

It's clear General Menon is detail oriented. Probably a micro manager, must have been a pain for those working for him, though probably highly effective.

Could not catch much since lots of operations technicalities discussed.. eg i am still not clear what is theatre and why is it better.. but i am sure down more episodes these kinds of questions will automatically get answered... and why difference defense wings have different communications channels.. it seemed a no brainer that they all need to be on the same channel network.. but i will wait for more episodes to understand more and better.

Why Government don't allow RAW to perform operations?? I have heard number of covert missions, movies about CIA and Mossad but not about RAW, why?? Why they don't have independent decision to take action or not??
