I wish our shifts as nurses were as easy as she is portraying it. Trust me when i say she is making it look easy.

I wish my nurses had been like this when I gave birth. I had one amazing nurse who was actually engaged to the doctor who delivered my daughter. She was only there for the first day of labor, but all the nurses after her were rude as hell. The lady who did my epidural fucked up 6 times and then told me to “stop being dramatic and be still”

I was having seizures my entire labor and I was planned to get me epidural in the beginning. She told me she was gonna go take her lunch and be back in an hour to do my epidural. She didn’t show up for 6 hours. SIX! And when I asked what took so long she said “that’s not really your business.” THE FUCK ITS NOT! I was suppose to be numb from the waist down 5 hours ago. Then because I was in so much pain and was seizing regularly, instead of talking me through a painful seizure, she just berates me for being “dramatic” and that “she had 3 kids with no complications” Okay and? I’m HAVING PAINFUL COMPLICATIONS.

After she left, things were fine and quiet. My nurse after that was okay and then the next day, the nurse I had just seemed upset that I wasn’t dilating fast enough, like she had to stay late if I didn’t give birth. Then when I asked if they could give me some meds for the contractions I was having in my back, she straight up said no and then just walked out. After that I told her and the doctor that I was either having a c section soon or I’d walk next door to the other hospital in my town. After 50 hours of labor, 7 epidurals total, 15 seizures and a lot of cursing, I had my daughter.

I'm going in for an interview to get into respiratory therapy. Watching nursing and other people accomplish their goals really has been a great motivation.!!

No offense but I'm a nurse as well and I like how you are able to do that on a good day. But I want to see it on a " Quiet day". Hehe I hope you have a very quiet shift. Hehe FYI for no one who is a nurse. " Quiet" is very taboo in the field.

Patient waiting three hours for nurse to return, thinking surely she is doing something really important…this is a big part of what is wrong in healthcare.

What kind of of floor do you work on? Genuinely curious since this schedule seems really weird. Finish vitals at 8:30pm? I’m used to hourly vitals if not more frequent.

And a mini nap? Good lord. Please let me know where you work. Wtf lol.
