Fire has already reached the South edge of town with the Maligne Lodge Hotel already burning down... This is heartbreaking for anyone who loves Jasper as much as this Edmontonian... Pray for rain, pray for our courageous fire and rescue staff at this hour, y'all!

Glad to know everyone has been evacuated, I myself visited Jasper last year and it was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had, a check mark of my bucket list...I had the pleasure of the community and wild life. I am hoping that the animals knew to leave before it got too bad. Mother nature is something we should never mess with. Prayers that everyone goes home at some point and supports each other. Love you all Jasper

The federal government turned down pine beetle management strategies when offered by AB and BC forest product companies. Consequently nearly all of the pine trees died. It was just a matter of time. The federal government said "We want nature to take its did. The forest was literally a tinderbox of dead pine trees. Everyone could see this coming. Sad days for Jasper. Hopefully nobody gets killed.

I was told that the fire has now reached the townsite, more than likely it’s all going to burn. So sad. It’s reached the south edge of town.

What will this fire do in regards to the transport trucks that bypass Jasper headed to Vancouver and other parts of BC also CP rail that goes into Jasper will the rail line be shutdown
