Hey everyone,

This film only came out today so I’m pretty quick with this edit but I watched it earlier and I loved it! These two boys are just the cutest and they clearly adore each other. I like the fact that it’s left open as to whether or not they are gay but I personally would like to think so, they’d make the cutest couple. And it is pride month after all!!!

For anyone who hasn’t yet watched the film I would highly recommend it. It’s fun, lighthearted (mostly) and the animation is absolutely stunning!

I really liked this film, I also liked the fact that the human father was the one to accept them, I thought he was going to be the villain of the story but I really like the fact that he wasn’t portrayed as the stereotypical villain. I’m not sure if that makes sense xD and I absolutely LOVE THE DESIGNS OF THE SEA MONSTERS

I know they’re friends, but the way they acted towards each other, it was like they loved each other!!! Also I LOVED when Alberto got jealous when guiletta was bonding with Luca!

I've seen the movie and there is one lesson I think Disney and Pixar got perfectly on point with:

"Not everybody will accept Luca, but some will. And Luca can find the right ones".

Honestly, although I think the plot lacked conflict, the animation, the character design and the development and chemistry of Luca and Alberto's "friendship" was 100% worth it and I would see it again.

Loved the movie! I’m so happy Alberto kind of found a family with Giulia’s father. I like to think he later adopts him, considering Giulia and Alberto already seem to have a brother and sister relationship.

Luca gave off so many bi vibes, and Alberto so many gay ones. Especially with Alberto getting r e a l l y jealous in the movie. I ship them so much from that ending. At first I was like ‘Maybe not’ but the whole time I couldn’t help but think of it as a lgbt film. Especially when the grandma was talking to Luca’s parents, I can’t exactly remember what was said but it was along the lines of “Not everyone will accept him.” And that hit me so hard as a gay guy. Like that’s what I’ve been told that not everyone will accept me, but some people will. And idk I just love them so much, ship or not. Their friendship was so good, and I teared up at the end of the movie. The train scene really made me have it set in stone of some kind of relationship.

This movie was awesome. The ending was like as if I felt their sadness. I watched other sad moments in other movies/games but not like this. This movie really gave me happiness and sadness. They are truly best of friends!

Can we acknowledge how Alberto is literally so protective of Luca? And also, he gets jealous of Giulia when Luca talks to her.

Even if they're just friends, I am glad they're able to be so touchy with each other without it being a big deal. Don't get me wrong, the queer vibes were off the charts from the beginning, but I'm just glad it isn't specifically because they're okay with hugging each other and being vaguely affectionate. I guess I'm still stuck on how stupid it was when preteens and teenage boys would act like patting their friend on the back was a bad thing because it meant they were gay. Here, they could be gay, but it's because of the chemistry they've built up, the trust they have in each other, the implications with the train scene and "you got me off the island" and the scene where the granny mentioned they would never be accepted by some people but they found the ones who would accept them. There were a ton of better explanations for why the queer community identified with them so quickly than the fact that they hugged a few times.
