Plitvice Lakes Croatia - Top Tips

European Motorhome Tour 12/45. *PLITVICE LAKES* was the top of our "must do" list for Croatia. It didn't disappoint, it is an amazing place. We've included *TIPS* to help you get the most out of visiting Plitvice Lakes.

*Tip #01* Use Entrance 1 so you can walk up river getting a full view of the Plitvice waterfalls
*Tip #02* Book an early time slot, big crowds come by coach to Plitvice from Split and Dubrovnik around 11am
*Tip #03* Consider buying a 2 day ticket, if you like hiking there's enough to fill 2 days
*Tip #04* Buy your tickets online in advance, we walked straight in without out queueing (numbers are limited by hourly slots)
*Tip #05* The Plitvice lakes are stunningly beautiful everywhere but the "creme de la creme" is heading up the river from Boat Station 2
*Tip #06* It probably goes without saying that good footwear is a must, Plitvice Lakes is much more spread out than the Krka Falls and the walkways are made from logs, they are well maintained but there is a chance of a trip
*Tip #07* We arrived at Plitvice for the first 8am entrance slot, the position of the sun was challenging for getting good photo's it was either too bright or there was a big shadow. Consider visiting the best bits at different times of the day
*Tip #08* The Supljara Cave is easily missed so be sure to look out for it nearish Entrance 1. We recommend walking up it from the lake rather than down as it is quite steep. Maybe at the end of the day as you head back to Entrance 1
*Tip #09* You can't park overnight in the Plitvice Carparks so choose one of the Campsites close by. We stayed at Camping Plitvice which is the closest. It does get full, even in mid season so booking advised
*Tip #10* Don't be fooled by the lack of people in this video, it does get very busy but also don't worry about the crowds, it is a big place and it is possible to get away from the crowds
*Tip #11* Take water with you, it can get very hot and it's a fair walk between the refreshment areas
*Tip #12* We didn't think the food prices were over the top but also there were so many nice places to have a picnic with views over the lakes and waterfalls so we definitely recommend taking a pack up

There is a word in the English language made for places like this and that is “Wow” it looks amazing. I would even prefer this place to riding on a Steam train. Also for you guys to say that there’s enough walking there for 2 days mean that it must be the size of a small continent 😂 absolutely loved this one 😍

What a great immersive experience, superbly presented. We did a running series around Croatia on our treadmill using the IFIT app about 18 months ago and have it in our bucket list. The lakes were crazy busy on on instructor led series but still beautiful. We were still living in Oz at the time but now we’re back in the UK it’s within easier access. Thanks for bringing it back into our focus. ❤👏

We are from New Zealand which is a very beautiful country itself. But we visited Plitvice in 2019 and it is just stunning, it is really hard to do it justice with photos or videos it is a must visit. Also that was not busy at all when we were there you had to queue for up to 45 minutes for the boats. Great vlog keep up the good work.

Taking the boat? What's this, "(Less) Extreme Motorhoming Adventures" :-) Another cracking place though, looked very peaceful, good idea to get started early. 8 hours of walking was just like me at the NEC (and I did it for 5 days) OK, maybe I didn't walk non stop for 8 hours. I must admit I was expecting Andy to go for a dip when he was on that log.. Excellent as always. Thanks for sharing..

What a beautiful place! I’d seen pictures of the lakes with the little wooden pathways a long time ago and would love to go there one day. Will try to remember all your tips for when we do. Nice that there is so much to explore and it seemed to be open really early so you could make a full day of it - those drinks were very well deserved at the end!
