Hi Pavan! Your videos on case prep are super helpful!

Here are the factors I'd consider as I make this decision:

1. Mexico Telecom Market
a. size and growth rates
b. competitive landscape (overall fragmented/ consolidated)
c. average profitability
d. barriers to entry

2. Reliance
a. Capabilities and ability to navigate these aspects (infrastructure, IT, ops, marketing, management and workforce, language differences)
b. Financial analysis of this decision
- Profitability (R (potential customers and $) and C (FC and VC))
- Initial Investment and how Reliance will undertake this
- ROI (does it meet goals?)
c. Synergies within both markets

3. How to Enter
a. Organically
b. M & A
c. Joint venture
d. Through Mexican government - partnership

Please let me know your thoughts and how I can further improve upon this. Thank you!

Hey Pavan, thanks for this video! And in an attempt to brain-storm for the case you've mentioned towards the end of the video, I have come up with the following points –
1. Understanding the target customers:
Before expanding to the Mexican market, Jio should try to determine who the target customers are, what their product requirements are etc.
2. Understanding the competition:
Jio should also think about the similar companies in Mexico catering to similar customer segments, their strategies, their profitability etc.
3. Finance & tax implications:
Before taking a decision, Jio must look at the funding sources, the expected ROI for investors, the utilization of such funds (capital & revenue uses), expected profitability, taxation etc.

I'll pick a few points from your management consulting session last weekend !
Reliance should / shouldnt based on the following :
Market attractiveness : 1) market size and the growth rate of internet usage 2) Avg margin
Regulatory Barriers: 1) Indian & Mexican regulations wrt trade
Competition: 1) market share of existing players in Mexican market 2) specific differentiation that Jio can create that competitors dont, for eg: price
Looking forward to part 2!

Hey Pavan,
Just saw your video and it was an amazing insight for me as a first timer.
I'll like to share my thought process on Reliance Jio to enter Mexican market or not:
1) Get the brief idea about the competitors and their market share.
2) Growth rate of the industry and whether it's a profit making segment in that region.
3) Customer Acquisition cost.
4) Initial infrastructure investment and ROI time period on the same.
5) International and local Regulations.
6) Public requirements whether it's high data or hig calling or both

Nice inputs @pavan. To me, for Reliance jio query, i see following groups
1. Opportunity analysis - It includes demand and competition
2. Capability analysis - It includes the business setup, government policy
3. Sustenance - Can Jio keep the business running as long term player?

Hi Pavan,

Thanks for your inputs.

I would assess Jio on following parameters:

1) Adaptibility - For it to show a similar success like it did in India, it needs to assess the telecom market of Mexico.
Is there a similar kind of player already offering deep discounts?
Are the people as price sensitive as those of India? If yes, then will they make similar profits?

2) Regulatory - Anticompetitive laws, purchase of spectrum. Any law which benefits only local company.

3) Market conditions- Overall market size. Average price per gb etc.

Some point that to be considered

1. Existing management of resources (If present resources are not properly managed then first focus on market and resources in hand)
2. Get understanding of the Mexican economy, political factors, legal factors, demographic factors, social factors
3. Determine the niche of industry to target, highlight competitiors, analysis of competitors performance, determine goals in line with long term vision
4. Prepare revenue model also models consisting of strategies of advertisement, raw material procurement, machinery installation, final product, manpower
5. Conduct feasibility analysis and take decision accordingly

Hi Pawan, i think from the viability perspective we need to look at 2 angles more specifically

1) Financial and Economic viability : This would comprise of taking an understanding of the market players present in Mexico and the rate of ROI they are getting .
2) Social Viability : We would need to take a note of the Govt policies regarding telecom sector, ( whether govt is really open for outsiders ) ..and the response of people over there ( through pilot project )
3) Other Viability like geographical viability whether a new independent branch would be opened or would it be a subsidiary of Reliance Jio .

Following points to consider:

1. Estimate the size of telecom market
2. Gaps in services of the current players
3. How much share can reliance jio grab in 3 years?
4. Profit after incurring market entry cost

Hi Pavan, loved this video !!!
This will be the my thought process :-
1. Financial Analysis : Here I would answer the most important question, When will Reliance JIO Breakeven, what should be their Tariff to met break even and how much should they charge to be in net profit.

2. Industry overview : I will do research about the Mexican market, trying to identify the trends and leaders, this way would know whether
or not this is an attractive market or not.

Hello sir this business cusulting video will helps to lend in business consulting.
By end of the video you have mentioned the Reliance Jio case study:
First he should do some market research ( target customers of maxican country, they are willing pay as indain customer paying, other telcom company are running their business, how aquiring the customer, what is ROAS, and following by others financial analysis would meet the objective of the business)
