There are better Christmas markets in Wien that aren't absolutely rammed with tourists, e.g. the Altes AKH one. Unfortunately as you found, they're all filled with the same overpriced food and tat from China. It's nice to see the displays, but perhaps a distance, away from the coaches of holidays markers (especially true for the Rathaus).
