Today my wife Brenda is trying something new!! She is plowing with draft horses for the very first time! Today she is using our Percheron team, Ken & Buck. How will she do??

Watch our videos to learn about draft horses- horse logging, horses farming, and horse training! Jim uses Belgian, Percheron, and Suffolk horses to do work on the farm and in the woods. He teaches about harnesses, horse-drawn logging and farming equipment, horse feeding and maintenance, and voice commands for horses. New videos uploaded every week. Keep watching to see how Jim trains his new Suffolk Punch colts as he has trained his full-grown teams!

My grandmother passed away in 2015 at 105. She would have so enjoyed your videos. She and her 6 sisters plowed their farm in Oklahoma in the 20s. When we would go to museums and she would see plows she would talk about the hours in the fields she loved horses and really loved to garden even after moving to California. She had a huge garden until she passed. You’re a great teacher Jim and we’re very patient. Great pupil too Brenda loved this!

One white horse plough; two black horses; two lovebirds 😁; lots of smiles. Thank you for a lovely video; entertaining and instructive.

I so enjoy the videos you two create. Excellent instructional video on the complexities of plowing. I greatly admire Brenda for giving it a go even though she didn't fully understand the necessary mechanical interactions of the plow. You learn timing and know how by doing. She has a good mentor and Jim, your patience in talking her through the process was probably the primary reason she didn't get flustered. Buck and Ken's calm demeanor surely made it a much more enjoyable experience for her as well. If she truly wants to plow, from what I saw in the video, she can surely master it. The two of you having fun at the end of the video was a pleasant bonus. God bless you both.

What a wife. She bakes bread, gardens, and now plows a straight line. Brenda you are amazing and your husband is a blessed man.

Brenda, love those straight furrows! 65 years ago, I was taught to plow, cultivate, and mow with Tommy and Billy. They knew I was a green kid and they made me look bad. But you, Ken and Buck are doing it great! Keep it up, girl.

Kudos to Brenda! To learn anything new on camera is very brave. And to take instruction from your husband can be very trying. But you both did very well!🤗❤️❤️❤️

I really enjoyed this video. I think Jim is so experienced he makes it all look easy. By showing Brenda we are able to see how much more there is to to do than just leading the horses. I loved the ending, you two having fun with it.

The best WAY to teach another, is to DO the Whole Procedure 5 times yourself ( lots of visual cues)&( NO saddle time) in a progressive manner. There is a LOT of particular controls, Splict-second timing to smoothly COORDINATE the Whole Complex Proceedure. This is NO EASY Task to master, it "Might" be Easier to Pilot a Commercial Airliner. This was a Very Good exaple of how TOUGH "old-style" farming used to be. Precision plowing with "Draft Horses" is pure "Artwork". The highly skilled Horses Realy seem to "Know what's going On". Thank you for the great Video Sir & Mam and happy plowing.

Oh what a great idea! Go Brenda! And what a great lesson for the rest of us who want to learn. Thanks! It's interesting to see just how complicated it is after all this time of watching Jim make it *look* easy. Keep at it Brenda, I find you inspiring!

Being from horses and having different breeds, every time I watch you there's something that makes me think about how something can be done different. I learn by watching. Thanks for allowing us into your world for a little bit. You both are very special people. Blessings to you both and the horses and cats too.

It is such a pleasure watching you with everything, horses and how much patience and calmness and teaching and explaining and your incredible relationship between each other. Thank you so much for sharing all your virtues and taking the time to teach.

I'll tell ya, Brenda, you are amazing. I thought you were awesome and you didn't quit. There are a lot of steps and handles to learn in a short span and you are doing great. You and Jim should be proud. I really enjoyed Jim's comments and his patience.

I didn't realize the driver had so much to do (adjustments to make) at the ends of the rows. I like being able to appreciate what is going on. Jim your ability to explain and Brenda' willingness to learn with so many "eyes" watching is amazing. Thank you both!
