The colonisation of space began in 1986 and now, fifty years on, the moon is frontier territory. The prospectors, the drillers, the exploiters and the exploited all surviving in this alien environment. The prospects for lucrative rewards exist but the premium paid for potential gain is often the ultimate sacrifice- life.

I love the old science fiction movies and stories as unlike modern 'sci-fi' they actually do real science and are though a lot of the science of their times has been since disproven the makers actually bothered with the science and did their home work unlike today's material. This one is a real gem that I am happy to have found. I enjoyed watching it .

A film that could do with a remake. Better effects, a bit more polish. The original script and story were pretty good with a balance of scientific accuracy (no sound in space, the effects of gravity, explosive decompressions and extreme Lunar temperatures), capitalism in space, corruption and how to colonise other worlds (and bring business along). I'm in two minds whether a remake should keep the free form jazz soundtrack though.

Nice how they just added an interstage to the Apollo Lunar Module. Really that just might have worked.

The trailer makes it seem better than it actually that's possible. We saw this one at a drive-in and it was the third of about five features that night, and it was pretty bad. My Dad took a nap during the whole film. The last thing he said before dozing off was, "This sure as hell ain't no 2001; wake me in time for the western."
