In this live drawing exercise, Ashley will have 45 minutes to complete a scratchboard drawing of dice. The creative prompt is "Scratch That Itch". Scratchboard or scrapeboard is an art-making medium in which ink is removed with a sharp tool, revealing a light value (usually white). In this type of art, the artist must think in reverse, scratching out the highlights, while leaving the darker tones. Tune in and draw along during the live broadcast.

I use willow charcoal as the transfer medium. It erases very easily even on watercolor paper. You get fuzzy lines sometimes, but I only use the transfer for scale and general location.

Ugh, I missed the live stream again! I'm watching the video and you are talking about finding something sharp to sketch with.. I did scratch art a long time ago and I used corn on the cob holders. 😂
