I knew a Yorkie who was around 23 years old. He outlived both of his parents and was still an escape artist until the very end! RIP Chiko. May you still be causing mischief up in heaven.

aww wow! 18! my “baby” shih tzu is around 16 (don’t really know his age since I found him in a dumpster) but i’ve had him since 2007 when i was in 3rd grade and now im 24. even though he’s an old pup, he still has lots of energy in him! props to you for acknowledging the care for senior dogs :)

My old baby (around 20 years of age, she’s as old as I am) has gone to the same groomer throughout her entire life. This helps older dogs establish a constant and connection, meaning if your pup begins losing eyesight and/or hearing it won’t be an unfamiliar person.

This also means (since I moved away from my childhood home) I drive over 4 hours to drop off my dog at the groomer. I’ll still say it’s worth it because… well the groomer loves her. And she loves the groomer.

This little guy looks so young! He has lots of love and care for sure! My Clarice (a stray mutt I took in when I was 24-I'm now 43) passed in February of 2021. She was just a few months shy of 19 and had been in extremely good health until just after Christmas of 2020!

The oldest dog I ever knew lived to the age of 21.
I left for the army and when I came back he was still alive.
He was on his last legs and had to be put down but he waited for me to come home.
Best dog ever.

We just put down our 20 year old bichon a month ago, so seeing such a sweet old gentleman like this dog being treated so well really hit me in the feels

my dogs passed when they were 17. in their senior days, they were incredibly trusting; especially when it was time to clean their teeth and grooming. it's all about their temperament and personality.

my first cat, passed away at 18yo, it was 2 years ago, it still hurt me so much, cause we went through so much shit together, in a way he was part of the family and i think even though he was '' a cat '' he understood us.
