Asbestos: The toxic mineral endangering millions in India | 101 East Documentary

Once used as an insulating material in buildings around the world, asbestos as been banned in more than 60 countries following the discovery that it causes deadly diseases.

But in India, the world’s largest importer of the toxic mineral, millions of citizens continue to be exposed to asbestos.

Research estimates more than six million Indians could contract asbestos-related diseases in the coming decades.

Activists are demanding the government act now to protect citizens.

India acts as if its still in 19th century.. 200 years have passed yet the govt politicians and people are still in the stone age.

It’s banned in most of the countries in early 1980’s.
These fibers turns lungs into stones, and results in a very painful death.
Even removing it from one place it requires full set of protective gear such as overalls, airtight masks, gloves .
And here I see not even a thread of awareness about it .
