This April Tony attended Scrum Con, a tabletop and role-playing event in Silver Spring, Maryland. Scrum Con started in 2019 and organizes a wide mix of tabletop games. That includes historical wargaming, but also fantasy, science fiction, pulp, and role playing adventures. All of the events are participation games!

Tony interviews one of the organizers of the show to talk about how it started and where Scrum Con is going in 2024 and beyond. You can learn more about this event in the Washington DC area at the official homepage. The games do book up fast, so make sure you add this to your 2024 calendar!

Supporting regional shows and events is one way we can all help the growth and exposure of the hobby. It's also a great opportunity for historical gamers to showcase great-looking battlefields to the wider tabletop community. So even if you're not in the Washington DC area, take a look around your own region to seek out local events and shows like this one!

As a 40K guy moving into military miniature wargaming I love seeing these gatherings of like minded folks and how they can all get behind all of the different games to be played. Thank you for the great content!

Raymond Morehouse, I run my Fury Road game using my own homebrew rules called, “What a Lovely Day!”

It was indeed a great convention and an outstanding venue for the DMV. The free parking was one key. You should think about enlarging it and adding more games. Also, soliciting for interested game masters in advance would be great. I really liked the fact that this Con wasn't ruled by specific game tournaments, but featured a nice mix of tabletop miniatures and RPGs; often using homebrew rules from what I could tell, and based on what I played.

I wanted to go but it was at the end of spring break and I was on vacation. I would have jumped in on a Combat of the Thirty game, I participated in a recreation of the battle at Pennsic (SCA) for several years.

As a fellow HAWK, Zeb is a great guy to play with or against and we miss him during our bi-monthly game nights.
