This is a review of the Heljan Class 35 "Hymek" Diesel Hydraulic Locomotive in the British Railways green livery which has been custom weathered as well with the all green fronts. This model is an older version as it is Made in Denmark as the later models are Made in China and you tell as the older models have a "Window" on the box lid as where the newer models do not. I got this model for a good price of £64 plus postage which was a good price considering the availibility for these models as this variant only comes on eBay once in a blue moon. Anyways moving on, the model is DCC ready and it also has working illuminated headcodes but no tail marker lights unfortunately. I intend to buy more of these Class 35 models frol Heljan in other variants as I do like GWR themed trains even though Diesel Locomotives like this one are post-GWR era. I may fit a sound decoder at a later date as I like the sound of the Maybach power units that these locomotives had when they were in service. There is one preserved at the East Lancashire Railway at present and I am planning to visit the ELR next year. Maybe if the Class 35 had EMD/GM power units similar to the Irish GM Class 141/181's had at around the same period then the Class 35 might have lasted well into the late 1980's.

That's a really nice looking model, I like the weathering that the owner before you did! It looks like a great running model also!

Hymeks did indeed actually carry ploughs. Whilst they didn't make it as far North as Scotland in their rather short career, a few examples did carry ploughs. D7017 itself carried ploughs in it's preservation days whilst sporting the rather odd choice of engineers dutch livery. Perfectly suited the 'Mek in my opinion. Worth having a dig for photos of it. I'm looking at getting a Mek myself, to renumber as D7076, and I'm sure the Heljan equivalent does not dissapoint, even at it's age.

Great video as always! You show off all those unique and colourful trains from the U.K! Class 31 is the best! If you want to get anymore North American locomotives try the Atlas Dash 8-40Bs in Souterh Pacific!! or Santa Fe (8-40BWs) I just got them from modeltrainstuff com for 99 bucks! products numbers are 7290 or 7392 I was at MB Klein's modeltrainstuff's store just 2 weeks ago!
