A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, C-3PO somehow landed on the planet where Clash of the Titans took place. Hephaestus saw him and said, "That's sick af!" So he created a bunch of robots modeled after him, thus creating these robot creatures in Greek myths.

Bubo also made a cameo in the sequel Wrath of the Titans.
He briefly appears in Hephaestus's workshop when Hephaestus was talking.
BTW, Wrath of the Titans is the best and my all time favorite movie in general.

Another fun fact: originally, the 2010 Clash of the Titans was going to feature the gods of several pantheons, in fact, the main villain was going to be Tiamat, the reptilian goddess from Babylon.

Boobo or however you spell it, was the result of Athena sticking up for Perseus. Once Olympus understood what was before Perseus Athena pleaded for Perseus to be given help. Zeus remarked that if Perseus could not do it alone, then Argos should suffer. When Athena persisted Zeus then told her to give Ibid her owl to Perseus for help. The notion bothered Athena so deeply that to fulfill Zeus' order she had Hephaestus craft a robot owl instead.

I feel pretty bad for the original Clash of the Titans because despite having some of the best stop motion effects it performed poorly at the box office but a lot of people who have seen it agree it's still a pretty good movie.
