Connecting Communities: Missing Links

The City has developed a pilot that uses data to help tackle inequity and improve the quality of life for Calgarians.
The data included the Calgary Equity Index, and clearly showed that weak and broken sidewalk and pathway connections, called missing links, are more common in certain areas of the city. This creates mobility barriers for people and inequity across communities. The data was used to identify the communities where we most needed to put in the highest-need, highest-benefit missing links first, and enabled us to do it much more quickly.
Connecting these missing links will improve safety and provide Calgarians with higher quality pathways, walkways and bikeways.
