Red Notice Pitch Meeting

Step inside the pitch meeting that led to Red Notice!

Red Notice was Netflix’s most expensive movie to date, and also (apparently) their biggest opening ever. With massive stars Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot just kind of doing their thing-- it’s no wonder why so many people clicked “play.”

Red Notice definitely raises some questions though. Like was this movie sold on name recognition alone? Why did Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot’s characters even involve Ryan Reynolds in the whole first part of the plan if they just needed the third egg’s location from him? How did they know they’d end up in the same jail cell as him? Why is prison so easy to break out from? How is that 80-year-old vehicle still running, and why is there a waterfall here?

To answer all these questions and more, step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to Red Notice! It’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

I like that he doesn't even bother using character names, since it really doesn't matter for this film.

Dwayne Johnson has Jungles, Ryan Reynolds has witty one-liners, and Gal Gadot has decades old vehicles that somehow work despite having not been used.

I think what I learned from this is that Gal Gadot doesn't own a stake in an alcoholic beverage company

"....no."

That delivery just killed me. Holy crap, someone make a movie with Ryan in it!

I’ve heard that Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds meticulously prepared for these roles by actually living their own lives as themselves for more than forty-five years.

"This isn't so much a twist ending as it is a... spin cycle."

The delay on the fourth "wow" was a masterpiece of modern cinema all by itself. Thanks for your effort in keeping "wow" fresh.

Ryan, you forgot to mention how during the helicopter scene, the Russian police actually had an RPG and instead of first aiming at the helicopter, they aimed for Dwayne 😂

I love how he just called the characters by the actors' names the whole time. I mean I don't blame him, I just finished watching the movie and I don't remember the character names lol

The way that "No" was delivered and the realization that came before it says a lot about the movie plot.

"couldn't they have just followed him to the location of the third egg instead of doing everything up until this point?"

"Oh O.K.!"
Perfect delivery, wow wow wow.

“So wait if all they needed from Ryan Reynolds is the location of the third egg, couldn’t they have just followed him to that one instead of doing everything they did up to this point?”

*long pause* …..”No.”

NAILED IT!!! 😂

Making a successful movie with Deadpool and The Rock is super easy, barely an inconvenience.

my reasoning for why ryan stayed in the room with the real egg: he literally talked about how he loves the attention and escaping so he just did it for his own amusement

I love the fact that Ryan didn't bother to refer to the character's names, since the actors clearly didn't bother to really "play" characters.

I'm just waiting for the day when he tricks us all and says "Really hard, a massive inconvenience"
