HTC 10 Revisited: After Android 7.0 Nougat Update

The HTC 10 was left out of my favorite phones of 2016 list. I revisit it to see if I made a mistake! Also to take a look at improvements after the Android 7.0 Nougat update.

When you say, *it isn't the best in any specific category*, what do you mean? I don't mean to be rude, but it actually is the best in terms of sound quality. You mentioned the sound quality is great, it's actually much more than that. It has a 24 bit / 192kHz DAC/AMP inside, capable of driving powerful headphones (up to 150 ohms in my personal experience), where other smartphones fail to even play sound through headphones of that impedance, and is certified by Japan's Audio Society for "High Resolution Audio". It is capable of recording in FLAC and playing actual 24 bit FLAC files, while actually giving you the full quality without down sampling the audio to 16-bit 44 kHz like most smartphones do *cough Samsung/iPhone*. Hook it up with a pair of Sennehiser IE80s or HD25s and you'll see what I mean. Yes, the Oneplus 3T overtook it in terms of sheer specs, but that phone doesn't excel at anything in particular either, except for maybe battery size, and most importantly, does not have a High Resolution Audio certification by any means. As far as I know, from the phones released this year, only the LG V20 is capable of achieving this level of audio quality, but I guess when you stream your audio library on iTunes or Spotify at 320kbps through your run of the mill Apple earbuds, that's not a big deal. It also probably has the best build quality of any smartphone that came out this year, just watch Jerry Rig Everything's HTC 10 video when in doubt, and uses actual metal everywhere, including the speaker grill where Google uses white cloth for their hyped Pixel.

HTC 10 has the best audio of any cell phone second to none! The 24 bit DAC headphone jack owns any other cell phone!

HTC 10 actually scores DXOmark of 88 which means it takes better photos than Oneplus 3T, also it also has one of the best audio experiences you will ever have, you forgot to mentioned all that. HTC camera is considered to be the top 3 performer and video stabilisation .

i have htc 10 and my brother has the 3t...he used my phone now wants to sell the op3t lolz.
simply to say htc 10 is just best in everyway...cant be compared with one plus..the build quality, sound output, htc UI is just so best and the 2k display which is crisp..once u have it..op3t u wont even look at it.

3T has a better camera? htc 10 is not best at something? Audii? performance? The htc 10 doesn't perfect in raw power, but in smooth UI and speed.
htc 10 is THE best in audio, performance (maybe second to the pixel) and in build quality. This thing is a tank.

Meanwhile Galaxy S7 EDGE still doesn't have nougat. I love Samsung phones but they are TERRIBLE with updates.

As you have mentioned, Focus speed on HTC 10 is not at all an issue in any light scenario. Broad day light or low light, focus is quick. Just the shutter speed could be faster. And I've found the picture quality of this phone to be better than the iPhone 7/7+. I've used HTC 10 from last 7 months and have used it every single day.

Switched back to my HTC 10 and a proud user of it. Tried the V20 but, no, it does not amaze me. I feel like the 10 is better.

OP3 is a great phone, but not better than HTC 10. especially camera. What is most important for potential buyers buyers is not so much what reviewers are saying but what owners think of the phone they bought and used. and HTC 10 has highest grades of 2016 phones and one of the highest ever. It's strange how nitpicking you are to HTC 10 and so easy on pixel.
