Rays are gentle, docile creatures. Their spine is a reflexive defense weapon. Most injuries from rays come from them either being stepped on while they hide on the bottom or from being harassed while swimming, or hooked by fishermen. Steve Irwin was killed by the fish least likely to do so. If he could he would probably tell you it was all his fault. Rest in peace Steve, your children are carrying on you legacy and they do you proud sir.
