Should have applauded the shot by Monfils rather than breaking the racquet. Novak was leading by 2 sets and he did not play a bad shot or made a mistake in the point it was just that monfils just bludgeoned the ball down the line.

It is fine to smash racquet if you miss a simple rally but to smash when your opponent hit a winner it is very bad sportmanship

This was Novak on the verge of becoming the beast of tennis. He was in a different mindset. Davis cup final here was in late 2010. Novak led serbia to a win over France to win the cup, the calender flipped to 2011…and well you know what happened next. He was a guy on the verge of becoming a stone cold assassin

It is okay to smash your racket if you made a terrible mistake. However to smash the racquet when your opponent hits a really good shot it is another story.
