How to update the firmware on your Flashback 2 Delay (below).

You will need:
• a computer running Microsoft Windows or OS X with a standard USB interface
• the specified DC power supply for your pedal.

How to prepare the firmware update:
1) Download the newest firmware for Flashback 2 Delay

- Choose an updater: Microsoft Windows (these are ZIP archives containing
the firmware installer) or OS X (these are disk image files containing the
firmware installer).

2) Unplug all cables (including the power supply) from your TC pedal.
3) Connect the pedal to your computer using a USB cable.
4) Press and hold the footswitch on your TC pedal. If your TC pedal has more than one footswitch, press and hold the leftmost footswitch.
5) Insert the DC power supply plug.
6) The LED on your pedal should turn green. If your TC pedal has more than one LED, the leftmost LED should turn green. This indicates that the pedal is ready to receive the software update.
7) Release the footswitch.
8) Your TC pedal will now be recognized as an update-able device.

Applying the firmware update:
1) Quit all MIDI-related applications (e.g. your DAW) on your computer and launch the firmware updater you have downloaded in step 1.
2) In the firmware updater app, select your TC pedal from the drop-down list under the “STEP 1” heading.
3) When the “Update” button under the “STEP 2” heading turns green, click it.
4) The updated firmware will now be transferred to your TC pedal. Wait for the progress bar to reach 100%. When the update procedure is complete, the pedal will automatically restart.

You're all set!

This is really cool. I could have bet the tap tempo feature would have been reserved for a future Flashback 3. You guys surprised me.

Build a tap tempo switch with USB connector, and with a small firmware update, all pedals of this series will have tap tempo, MASH and stereo operation at the same time.

Thanks for the update! What I would love would be Mash+strum tempo! Now THAT would be the ultimate combo!

I'm really glad you guys did this. I LOVE the MASH feature, but on my mini board, space is a premium and Tap Tempo is more valuable to me!

This is greatly needed!
Glad TC allows this option via tone print software otherwise I would have gotten a DD7

Tc electronic could make the tap tempo or mash function a toneprint preset choice, not just a global one. the kill dry function works perfectly this way

I've had this pedal (v1 and then v2) for over a decade, and I just learned about this function today (Sept 2023)

I believe that it would be possible to have both functions on the same button, think about it, smash usually works by holding the button, different from the tap tempo that works by quickly pressing the same button.
Please, TC Electronic! XD

the mash or tap tempo option could be set by preset and not just globally

It'd be freaking awesome to have a toggle switch on the pedal to select between the mash effect or the tap tempo, or something that allows the user to use the tap tempo and mash without doing none of those things I mentioned, since for the mash effect it's needed to push for a few seconds whereas the tap tempo you, duh, need to tap the tempo as you want

Even though it's a killer pedal, hope I can get it soon

PLEASE bring back the strum tap tempo. This was such a marvel, and it's gone with FL2. Since, most probably, it's software based - it's just a matter of some update in the future.

Wow, what's a cool upgrade! That's a really must-have feature for any modern delay stomp box

Quick question, does the pedal remember the tap tempo even after turning it off, or does the user need to retap it each time after reengaging it? Thanks 👊

How do I setup the whole pedal (not just the tone prints) to activate external tap tempo? I see how to active external tap tempo in the editor but it’s only for the tone print slots - not the whole pedal. Running in mono.

A better update could be that you keep the Mash active but the orange LED blinks with the tempo still. That way you can match it with the delay button and watch the flash speed change to match by ear. It's a win win then

Just done it. Works a treat, thanks TC.
