I have a dog and a cat and while im more of a cat person let me say this. My cat and my dog were both stray, I adopted them and go out frequently on their own, especially the dog. Kinda the same age, maybe the dog is about 2 or 3 months older. I lost my cat 6 days ago in a place situated 5 or 7 houses from my apartment building, she knows to get home in that area but apparently she didnt left the apartment building area. I found her 5 days later.She used the litter box from the first day and I was surprised cause she was a stray. She is very independent, loving but very independent. Loves to play a lot and sometimes 2 or 3 hours of playing is not enough. The dog knows the whole city( I live in a city of 8000 humans or so). I really mean the whole city, stays most of the day searching around the whole city, has a few favorable spots. Can come home after a 2 km walk on his own, not sure if more than 2 km but at least 2 km. Really smart dog, smarter than most of the strays, smartest stray dog I have ever seen so far. Understands lots of words, and understands the situation around him a lot better than the cat, not saying the cat is not smart but im sure he is smarter. Really protective, walks by my side or by each of my family members every time they go to shopping or somewhere else. Most of the time he figures where are you going to take a walk so he goes ahead a bit. From my personal opinion dogs are smarter. Im sure if I really want to train him to give me beer from the fridge and close the fridge he could do that. And stuff like that.

Dogs, without a doubt...I know cat lovers think every dog is a pug...I have a border collie, and 2 cats...Those cats ain't even closetothe same level of sentience as a regular border collie, they're closer to actual rodents.

I really find this video annoying. It does presents factual evidence that dogs are smarter than cats but goes to the extreme in trying not to say it as to not offend cat owners.

Cats are more intelligent? Maybe, maybe not. Dogs are more adapted to doing what humans want, but that doesn’t necessarily make them more intelligent.

What’s for sure though is that cats are more independent and less obedient. In fact, they are not obedient at all. They do exactly what they want to do.

When you feed a dog it thinks they are giving me food they must be Gods. When you feed a cat it thinks they are giving me food I must be a God

Intelligence is measured by ones ability to turn thoughts, provoked and unprovoked- especially commends, into reality. This changes a person. This changes a family. This changes a nation. This changes a country. This changes the world. Merely thinking or showing complex thinking capabilities do not change anything therefore it doesn't exist outside of... Well... Thoughts. Dog are more intelligent.
