I am at the maximum limit of seat post on my new aeroad CF SLX.
Creaking started after 200kms. The seat post is really compliant, and the friction makes the noise .
Simple application of electrical tape around the seat post at its entry/exit from frame IMMEDIATELY AND ENTIRELY resolved the issue without losing the compliance.

I love this bike

in March 2022 I got me an aeroad slx and by June the seatpost creaking started. I did service the seatpost per Canyon's video-intruction a couple times but creaking persisted. I was out of the warranty window but still contacted Canyon and they emailed me a shipping label so they can "service" it for me (I dont know that that entails) but I sure hope I could return it and get the money back. by the way, i weight 165lbs and the seatpost creaks a lot. so, it is a design issue rather than a weight issue. thanks for the video

Totally agree with your review. I bought the same bike 2 months ago and I was impressed by the riding qualities until the saddle creaking started. I am also a tall rider, 190+ cm. I tried to regrease it, even bought a special brush for the lower screw. But the sound reappeared again on the next ride. And I caught myself thinking: I just bought a new pretty expensive bike and am constantly texting support and trying to fix the problems. I decided that I don't want this headache so I also made the same decision to return the bike.

Any innovation must be accompanied by high-quality production. So maybe it is either a design flaw or unstable quality during production when one frame goes with a slightly different seatpost hole size.

It could have been an amazing bike, but I also returned it, unfortunately.

I'm glad I sold this bike for the price I bought it for! Bought the bike and then the trouble started. First there was the problem with the seatpost and the plastic cap was not on the seatpost tube yet. Then MVDP broke his handlebars and I was banned from driving which lasted almost a year before the handlebars were replaced. And when I took the bike to canyon for repairs they discovered a crack in the rear fork . and that while I had driven less than 250 km with it.

When something is designed faulty and put into production, the problem really can't be fixed afterwards. Engineering form and function of seat post: set the right height, clamp and forget.

Since this seatpost creaking has started very soon after people have started to ride (according to Youtube videos), it means that Canyon released the bike without actual outdoor test rides. They left that for customers to do.

Hi bought the same model 2022 Canyon Aeroad CF SLX. I had the same problem.
I also followed procedures of greasing etc.., but not solution.
I returned my bike to repaer. They replaced the upper plastic sleave that fits in the frame. It need to be fixed with a glue. I need to wait a few days before i could pick the bike back up.
After the repaer i did not had any problem with the seatpost.
Now i am very happy with this super bike.
I should not happen, but thay fixed it by replacing the plastic sleave

A 4200 EURO bike that comes with these kind of issues is honestly sad. If I ordered this off canyon myself and it had this issue I would just return it straight away.

Not forgetting the discount you mentioned.. thats just a dirty move

I have the same bike frame (I had the SLX 8) with the same issue, and as you did, I contacted Canyon. based on what you disclosed in the video, on how you applied the procedure, I think you missed a very important step.
As you did, I bought the finish line ceramic grease (white) and the tacky red grease (red) as recommended by Canyon. they are intended to go in the rubber side of the sleeve (white) and the plastic part of the sleeve (the inner, hard plastic part of the sleeve that is glued to the frame.

The tacky red grease does not go all the way down to the clamping post area, where the dead bolt for the seat post clamp is. What goes there is carbon paste, also from Finish Line.

So, in total there are three products to apply, in three separated areas:
1)Ceramic grease (white) on top,
2) tacky grease (red) right under the ceramic one and then
3) carbon paste down at the clamping area .

Carbon paste is the one that takes the creaks out IMO. The other two are just there in case of minor creaks at the top. There is also a thread locker in the process which I also applied that I consider I over countermeasure in case that the bolt loosens.

I followed the steps to the dot with the document provided by Canyon. Creaks are gone, after ~200 miles of riding in any condition (hill, flats, low cadence, high cadence, high gears, low gears) I am still monitoring the situation, but I can tell you, at this time I just hear the wheels whistling. Agree with you this bike is fast. Sorry to see you returned it.

I weight 132 and my story is identical to this. I had the Aeroad CFR and it was amazing in every aspect except the seatpost. I tried repeatedly to cure the creak with no success, and ended up sending it back as

I‘m glad I bought a Trek Madone. The Aeroad was on my list too.

Just learned that the maximum system weight is 100kg, so anyone over 203lbs exceeds this. Was going to get one but a taking a pass like you. That said I absolutely love my Canyon Endurace. Such is the ride an quality I really rate Canyons products, but they have tried to be ultra innovative to achieve a compliant seat post and failed. Personally I think the should keep the frame design, but move the seat clamp up. Then cut and paste the new Scott foils seat post compliance idea in. Ie keep the post compliance part above the frame.

Thank you for the video. I'm gonna cancel my order now. Staying out of trouble.

Insane that they can sell these with issues that occur from day 1, and expect the purchaser to do preventative maintenance to fix their design issues

Came very close to getting this exact bike but changed my mind for some reason. I got on YouTube and started watching all these videos of people with the exact same problem and was like man I dodge a bullet. This bike is so beautiful though I hope they fix the problem. I go to their website and they keep extending the release date on their Aeroad which makes me believe they still haven’t completely figured it out. I also wonder did the pros have the same problem with their bike and what the mechanics do to fix it.

Oh my god don’t clamp your carbon frame into a stand like that or the creaking seatpost will be your least problem soon. Always clamp it on the seatpost

Good review, it's a disgrace that canyon are aware of the problem and are discounting bikes without offering a 30 day return in some cases.
