Federal drug policy has changed very little over the years. Its focus remains one of criminalization of all aspects of drug policy. Yet drugs are still readily available and crime rates remain high. After 40 years of concentrating on an approach that has been unsuccessful, we should be willing to take a look at other ways of working to solve this pressing problem.

It´s not just drugs, it´s every social or economic issue the governement thinks it has the right to ¨correct¨. It doesn´t matter to politicians if programs are innefective, wasteful and detrimental, as long as they can point to something and say, ¨well look at how much work we´re doing.¨ It´s busy work. The programs don´t need to yield results, as long as they keep tax revenue rolling and keep bureaucrats employed. Sadly most voters are fickle or they care more about rhetoric than results.

The drug laws are written by police unions and the private prison lobby . What could go wrong ? Don't overcomplicate it .

In America, we lead in incarceration.

Freedom, everybody.
