I actually think this song is my favourite on the album and maybe my favourite ever! I really connect to the lyrics. Especially in that my love is mine to give away, it’s completely my choice what I do with it and no one can take that away from me. It has reminded me to value my love. I do think that our love is left after we die, through the way we treat people, our connections with others, nature, animals, the love that we put into the things we create. Of course people die and materials and objects don’t last forever but I believe our love is passed through generations, and is also a part of the life cycle itself. That’s how I interpreted the lines about the moon and how she was asking for her love to shine like the moon does. It does feel corny to say but I do truly think love is a very beautiful and special thing and is not just an emotion but something tangible that we put into the world.
I really connect to the feeling that if there’s anything I want to leave behind, it’s my love
