South Florida labor shortage has many businesses looking for help

Many believe unemployment benefits are one reason folks just aren’t going back to service jobs, but it’s more complicated than that, research shows.

Long time Restaurants worker here I've had customers and employers laugh at me tell me I can't do anything else I've had customers actually want to fight me I've seen customers put down workers all the time Now I run my own landscape business will never go back my advice to those still in the business ask for more money

They’re not lying though. I worked hospitality and warehouse jobs most of my life. After being laid off because of the pandemic, I went and got my CDL. Work all year round

No one wants to pay and the benefits don’t exist. Easy answer really.

At Publix they pay is $12h but you gotta be doing other people jobs too

They are hiring in FloriDUH and pay you $9 per hour. Sure, you'll get employees when Target and Chipotle pay $15/hour.

You could end unemployment benefits tomorrow and it will still be an issue for these restaurants to get employees. People evolve, improve and look for better opportunities.

The owners say it's the unemployment benefits. I believe them as much as I believe the filthy rich billionaires saying they pay too much tax.

All I know is, that in New York if you are recalled for work, from a layoff. And you refuse. Your state benefits are canceled. But not quite aware of how this goes when the feds are involved. Anyone know????
