Thanks for an honest review. I'm writing this on my LG G8 and can confirm what you said is spot on. I use this phone for creating YouTube videos and the built-in software is awesome. Others need third party apps like Filmic Pro to get the same control of video as I get with the standard LG G8 camera app.

Unless all you own is high impedence headphones(>50 ohms), even the headphone jack wouldn't be a buying consideration.

Overall, yes the s10e would be the better budget buy over the LG g8.

LG g8 is a solid phone especially at its current asking price, but it's not great.

Solid, but not great is a great way to describe the g8. The problem with the g8 is in ways outside the chip and battery it is a downgrade from last year's g7 or v40.

The display doesn't peak to 1000 nitts like the g7, but ~600 nitts. The speaker quality where LG was the best over anyone else on the g7 or v40 with the highest decibel ratings even compared to the the galaxys and iPhones. The g8 is quieter and not as clear in the highs or mids compared to the competition.

The g8 doesn't have a ear piece, but the speaker under the oled so it doesn't have the RAM(receiver as mic) like previous LG phones and uses the far field mic. The far field mic doesn't have the same db ceiling like the ram does, but a lower db ceiling with further range and potential of clipping faster than previous LG phones.

As a film makers phone, you would be better off the the Xperia 1 with far better LUT profiles with log and raw. The LG g8 has manual audio options which is nice.

As far as the s10e being inferior to the LG g8, sorry I chuckled. The LG g8 does have on paper more ppi and a higher resolution than the s10e, but calibration is awful and comes off grainy at 1080p. The s10e has super stabilization which is almost at gimbal level stabilization. S10e has better thermal control, wireless power sharing is more useful and practical than the limited hand control gestures. As far as better face ID security, yea it is better and more secure, but even with face id the infrared scanner has hit or misses areas depending on lighting or humidity or rainy days, it's not nearly as accurate as iPhones dot projector.

Overall, for what you get it's solid at an extremely discounted price, its not the best in any category, and compared to previous LG smart phone generations some areas are nerfed. The reviewers are not lying about the phone since they have experience with every generation of multiple oem phones. LG is not consistent like other manufacturers offering buffs every generation(Not limited to processor gains).
