I love how, at the end, John reaches for the door handle the exact same way he reaches for the mail at the very beginning. It even uses the same camera angles, and he makes the same face.

That part where Rose and Kanaya look up at the THANKS FOR PLAYING sign while the bit of Sburban Jungle plays will never not give me chills.

The sheer existence of lil Cal, and by extension Lord english was paradoxical. The children were able to create a new universe and enter it, with it permanently being kept safe and barred from English. Meanwhile, the destruction of the Green Sun by Doomed Calliope made Lord English lose his immense power, allowing the army to finally defeat him once and for all. However, due to how everyone was tricked into creating the green sun, all the way back in Cascade, Lord English will simply be reborn due to the nature of paradox space. However, that doesn't matter anymore. Everybody was able to get their happy ending in the new Universe, and English will never be able to plague it. He's trapped in the doomed timeline, constantly cycling between his rebirth in Cascade and his death in Act 7.

The one shot of Vriska posing as the giant Homestuck logo falls to the ground behind her is the coolest thing in the multiverse

"Goodness is goodness in the final hour, in the deepest pit. Without hope, without witness, without reward."
God Tier Calliope gave her life, knowing that she would be destroyed forever, knowing that she was already in the only afterlife she would ever get. And yet, still, she did what she knew must be done.

The muse destroys their aspect through creation, and the lord creates their aspect through destruction. Calliope creates a black hole that destroys space around it, and lord english stabilizes the furthest ring by destroying dream bubbles. Idk, I just really love the whole paradoxy fun stuff of that it's so cool

Remember when Lord English was just a kid and a cueball? Yeah, me neither.

A shame that they removed comments from the official act 7 video, it was cool seeing evrryone chime in when they had gotten off hussys wild ride. Ill always remember those of us who were there in the first hours of act 7 dropping, good times

Homestuck had one of, if not the best ending of anything I had ever read or played. After finishing Homestuck for the first time, I was crying. It was a long journey, watching 4 kids play a game, and watching them die, then come back, better than before. Then 12 trolls came and they played the game. then 4 more kids. Characters grew and developed, defeated enemies, and, after 8100 pages and 7 years, the 32 characters that we loved all that time, now reduced to 28, finally did it. they finally beat the game that took 3 1/2 years of their lives and countless, repeated deaths, now going on to live in peace. Leaving their old lives behind, John and his friends enter the new universe, to live out their days in peace.

612/413. Time to read it yet again.

I think I finally understand how this works as the end. I think that after [S]: Game Over, and John's subsequent retconning, the timeline was split into 2 separate Alpha timelines in which neither had the Game Over. The first is Caliborn's home timeline. The genesis frog was created and earth was reestablished, and though it was repopulated, it didn't last long (because of all the shitty statues of liberty left in Caliborn: Enter). The kids went directly to confront Caliborn where the events of Caliborn's Masterpiece took place. The kids that were trapped in the juju then defeated LE but ultimately were terminated as well, so they could not go back to earth.
As for the second timeline, the kids leave Paradox Space altogether. There is no influence of The Game on it, as the Royals' Rings were destroyed. The party then reaps the true Ultimate Reward by breaking free of Paradox Space.
The major theme of this work must be seen through the lens of postmodernism. Homestuck is a truly postmodern work, rejecting literally EVERY narrative convention, from linear storytelling, traditional character arcs, and of course the 4th Wall breaks. And so the theme of this work speaks to the soul of any artist with a postmodern worldview: the desire to create something entirely New. Hussie frequently uses stock images and the same character models/frame shots. This is a very postmodernist method of creating art: using other works to create something unique but ultimately entirely derivative of other things. It's sort of like a collage. In today's age where everything is derivative of something else, Hussie has managed to create a completely unique story. It has references(this is what the refrance is) to many other works, but unlike almost any other story in Western literature, it cannot be reduced to a Shakespearen story, or a Biblical one. It bears a lot of resemblance to early Christian Gnosticism, but its basic plot is still too complex to be reduced to that. In short, Hussie has actually done what many consider impossible: he obtained the Ultimate Goal of a postmodernist. He created something New, even though nearly every aspect of it was derivative.
Bravo, Mr. Hussie, bravo.

I don't think any phrase I hear in my life will ever hit me quite as hard as "THANKS FOR PLAYING" did.

I really wish that Hussie had managed Homestuck better. It got big, perhaps too big and he thought he could handle it becoming a multimedia franchise, which is why we got the game, the books, the VIZ merger, and while I liked them, the questionable quality in the Epilogues and ^2 (along with the awful homestuck2 team who drove everyone away).

Just imagine if Hussie hadn't decided to do any of that. If he had just focused on finishing the comic, maybe release some merchandise, maybe wait until after the comic ended to launch the KS for Hiveswap and then focus on it completely instead of stretching himself thin and having that troubled development cycle.... could things have ended differently? Would the Fandom and the franchise be in a better state, instead of being a shadow of its former self? Perhaps we might never know... but to put it in Homestuck terms, it's sad that because of some choices, our beloved comic ended in a doomed timeline, dying with so much baggage and without any fanfare.
