Great video. My older brother had a beefed up 400 automatic trans black with white strips 70 SS Chevelle. It was set up for the quarter mile with 4-88 rear end gear. 472 open chambered roller bearing cam, dual point set up with a single 950 holey carb and long tube headers. With that set up at Lapeer Dragway in Michigan it would run consistent 11.40's. With the staggered dual quad set up it would run 10.70's consistently with slicks of course. That was in 1970-72. I was 16 in 1970 and while cruising Woodward Ave on warm summer nights it was such a thrill to ride with my older brother especially when someone was brave enough to race, usually from a roll of about 15 miles an hour. When the Chevelle hit second gear no one was able to stay close. The torque of that big block was incredible. My brother told me the closest race he had on Woodward was a Baldwin Motion 70 454 Camaro that stayed close but not close enough to pass him. I wasn't with him that night; I wish I would have been. Those were some great times. Listening to your powerful Chevelle took me back in time to those warm summer nights on Woodward Ave. Thanks for sharing. Oh yes, my brother had a close friend with a 1970 Yenko Duece LT1 350 Nova that was a blast to cruse Woodward Ave as well. That was 1970-72 as well. One night I was with him when he raced a brand new 70 426 Hemi Challenger. It was purple with a white vinal top. Beautiful car. They raced three times each time from a standing start. Very close race, but the Yenko Duece won each race by about half a car. That Nova was hard to beat off the line. You could mat it and it launched hard with very little wheel spin. It had a three-speed automatic with a his and hers Hurst shifter. It was also geared for the quarter mile with 4.10 rear end gear with Posi Traction. He should have kept that car and restored it. If we only knew then what we know now. Once again, thanks for the fantastic sounds of your 70 SS Chevelle.

Something about a chevelle ss with a big block. Unless you have driven one, you wouldnt understand. Will put a smile on your face from the minute you put the key in. Till you park it.

Goodness gracious, what a rocket! Beautiful machine. They sure don’t make them like that anymore. I’ll be 60 in a year and one of my most prominent childhood memories from age 5 was my late Dad’s 1971 Chevelle 454SS. Classic red with black stripes like yours, but with a stick shift. He sold it to dedicate more resources and energy to his kids and God bless him for it. But oh if only we still had it today. Your video gives me a small taste of what could have been. Keep enjoying that Beast!

Sounds like the one that I had except mine was silver with the black stripes and a black vinyl top. Loved that car. Love this car too

In high school my best friend had a 70 Chevelle SS it was lime green with a 454 and I remember feeling like I was on a roller coaster ride everyday going home from school.

It’s a love hate relationship with my neighbors when I bring out my 9 second Cleveland powered 86 mustang. Took out last Sunday, did some rolling burnouts. Right when I pulled into my driveway, here comes two cruisers 😂

Small blocks, LS, Coyotes…all are awesome…but a Big Block Chevy or Hemi is a “whole other type of power”!! Especially if comparing NA to NA. Great video and awesome car - my dream car.
