I cried since the second 1 through the entire opera and almost had a heart attack with that end which is like a proverbial voice of penetrating steel, as if Puccini elucidated the entire earth

de Los Angeles is in much steadier and stronger voice here than in the famous recording with Bjoerling. Young Gobbi sounds quite good as well.

What happened to the opening bars and Pinkerton's 'Dovunque al mondo?" Could you please restore them? Otherwise, this is the best studio recording I ever heard of this opera.

Who sings the role of Prince Yamadori? Maybe it is me but it sounds suspiciously like Tito Gobbi. Perhaps the singer who was supposed to sing the role of Yamadori no showed and Tito Gobbi disguised his voice and sang the very small role. There was a suggestion in another opera recording that Giuseppe Di Stefano, who sings Pinkerton here, did something in another opera recording he was involved in. I know in a recording of Pagliacci, Mario Del Monaco, who was Canio, sang the one line part of a villager, making his voice a little more baritone like.
