Energy | Forms of Energy and Energy Transfers for Kids

Показать описание
Energy! We use it when we exercise. It powers our mobile phones and it’s even in our food. It’s safe to say energy is everywhere in our universe but what exactly is it?
Energy can be defined as the ability to do work. This means energy can lead to something being moved in some form or another.
Albert Einstein’s law of conservation of energy states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed - only converted from one form of energy to another. This means when energy is being exerted it can’t be used up and we also can’t create more energy from thin air. Energy simply transforms from one form to another.
There are many forms of energy but we can group them all into one of two groups: Kinetic energy (moving energy) or potential energy (stored energy)
Kinetic Energy:
- Kinetic Energy: Moving Energy
- Thermal Energy: Heat which causes moving particles
- Sound Energy: Particles vibrate in a wave
- Light Energy: Radiated photons move in a wave
- Mechanical Energy: Involving Potential and Kinetic Energy to preform a task
Potential Energy
- Gravitational Energy: Energy something has due to its position above the Earth
- Elastic Energy: Energy something has due to it being stretched out of shape
- Chemical Energy; The energy something has that can only be released by a chemical reaction
- Nuclear Energy: The energy that keeps the nucleus of an atom together
- Magnetic Energy (Although it is not mentioned in this video)
