The Moment I saw Gregg Berhalter as the coach I gave up hope

Gregg is unique as a manager. He doesn't care about those signature wins, he is all about those signature draws. To prove this point in the England game Gregg had the team give up on a potential goal-winning shot to take the draw. Hee made Reyna take the ball out of the box to sit on it ending the match. A free shot just sitting there and Gregg was like nope, this is an epic draw.

berhalter has consistently been bailed out by the sheer amount of incredible talent that the us has, but as this tournament has shown, that is not enough, and it gets exposed whenever we play a team that’s even slightly better than us. he needs to go, he’s dragging our golden generation down and he should never have been hired in the first place.

Hammarby has one, if not the largest supporterbase in Sweden
The difference between Hammarby and a normal secone tier team is huge.

He was therefore expected to take us up from the 2nd tier which he failed with during hes two seasons at the club.
Thankfully we went up the year after he left and are at a much better position today.

The US team does not generate scoring chances. Part of that is coaching, and part is talent.

As a Canadian I can say this right now, while I really want to crap on U.S.A on soccer because of how well the Canadian team is performing in Copa America but I think they are already craping to them selves

they could've had jesse marsch who has led canada to the semifinals becuase they thought berhalter was better than him or bielsa who also has Uruguay in the semifinal but didn't because he couldn't speak English. the us federation just loves getting in their own way.

We need to fire Matt Crocker AND Gregg Berhalter for mediocre coaching and training, they do not understand the demands of game and you can see it on the pitch

I remember some Americans saying they could take on the likes of any big European nations.

France, Portugul, England, Germany, Spain.

.... I laughed then, i laugh now.

Berhalter needs to leave. We need a European coach.

Dude you're not getting Jurgen Klopp, he'll probably have a break and if he takes a national job itll be Germany, not to mention he'll want insane money, sorry but the USMNT isn't a coveted job in most of the world, you guys don't necessarily need a big, sexy name, you just need someone who's competent, experienced and is good at guiding younger players, Herve Renard would be a decent option

Love the video!

An overlooked aspect to this debacle is that a decent chunk of important players in the squad did not get the minutes they need during the club season. Weah and Gio both starters for us during the Copa, but did not have any sort of consistent minutes for the previous 9 months. Same goes with Pepi, Turner, and probably more. That just can't be the case in the lead up to a major tournament!

meanwhile the women's team gets Emma Hayes, who's arguably the best manager in the women's side of the game.

European coaches don’t want to coach the US men’s team because the USSF is a shit show. Hell, American Jesse Marshe doesn’t even want to coach the US team after the way the USSF treated him. Karma is a bitch isn’t it!

The difference is between Italy and the MNT is that you know at some point, Italy’s going to figure it out and retool their team with all of the young talent coming up. You can’t be so sure with the U.S. sadly.

As someone who’s watching our own national football governing body make eerily similar mistakes (Korean Football Association is a train wreck), I feel your suffering. Hopefully we can get back on track before the “golden generation” reaches the end of
