Alberta wildfires near High Level prompts evacuations

An out-of-control wildfire in northern Alberta is forcing nearby residents to evacuate their homes. The wildfire danger in much of northern Alberta was rated as extreme. Dry and windy conditions are expected to cause the risk of wildfires to increase.

I remember this when we were packing to leave we got so much of our stuff and you could smell the fire and it was raining ashes and you could see the fire from the hill and the whole sky was gray from the smoke I was scared I’m just glad it’s over

I’m from high level Alberta, I was sleeping and got woken up to evacuate. I honestly didn’t think it would be this bad. The power was off for about 3 days.

2 years now hmpm May 20th 2019 i got evac from the area on May 20th 2019 im also from High Level AB.

When we came to school it wasn’t that bad though it was orangey colour outside, as hours go by it turned very yellow outside, after school some people were even sacred to go out it was very smoky and looked as if it was night time already. After a few hours it was less yellow and less smoky outside but then came back later on but even worse this time, you could barely see when driving plus inside our mall the smoke started to come inside. I hope it gets better soon

There are so many retrofitted water and chemical bombers out there, heck even some 747's that should have been in the air years ago.... practice on some real fires.

If they do not want to spend the money on saving our animals and natural resources, at least protect the people of Canada.

Sure money is an issue, however the costs and tolls on the above far outweighs putting them in the air.

I know that other Provinces suffer wild fires however I have only experienced BC and AB burning for more than 4 years, with each season getting worse.

Our neighbours to the South in California.... terrible fires.

Get the equipment built for these disasters, up in the air!

This is tragic. So sad, it's only May. Am worried about another hot summer. #WeMustChangeOurWays to hopefully stop all these disasters (wildfires, floods, heatwaves...) We must reduce the green house gases we are releasing into the atmosphere. Climate Change/global Warming is responsible for these. #MotherEarthOnFire
