When you're in Japan and visiting the Oita prefecture one great place to visit is the "Kokonoe Yume Suspension Bridge." The bridge opened on 30th October 2006 and is the tallest suspension bridge in Japan with a whopping height of 173 m and a length of 390m-long, even eclipsing Godzilla who stands at a mere 100m. From this height you can see the double waterfalls flowing through the Naruko River, the view is absolutely breathtaking and worth the trip.

A great time to visit the Kokonoe Yume Suspension Bridge is during the autumn, in November. During this period, you'll find crimson foliage dotting the surrounding mountains. If you are going to visit the bridge during the summer make sure you are properly hydrated as it almost takes 8-9 minutes when you walk casually, if you go during the fall and winter season the view of the changing of the leaves is just breathtaking and also be aware that the sun will be setting slowly after 4pm, so if you intend of getting the best view it should be around early morning or before 3:30pm
