How do you get to make your basset do tricks? Mine will just be like, "oh you want me to do tricks for treats? Nevermind then, I'll just sleep"

How long have you been training Marle? I've only had mine for a few weeks, and she's almost 2 years old already. Not expecting anything quick, but she's coming along stubbornly but nicely :)

it tool me over 2 years to housebreak my basset, I was starting to think he was "special".

If mine sees me holding the treat bags, she'll go through the motions without me asking. She'll come up, wait for a few seconds then sit. Then if I still don't move she'll automatically lie down. Totally cheating.

We started by using his most favourite thing which is chicken and started with the normal things like sit or stay, then as he quickly learnt that he wouldn't get the treat unless he did the task, he became very eager to learn, (quite desperate infact!) and so we were able to move onto other stuff. He's not so willing though if there's no chicken involved!!!
