I have a test on monday and trust me this video is so beneficial, i was having a rough time understanding spring constant and you explained it so much better than my teacher in just 5 minutes!

If you go down to the actual spring material, it is in fact a very thin long metal rod, wound into a coil form. If you observe closely what movement a spring is undertaking during compression or stretching you will observe that the this action is actually the bar twisting of equal amount throughout its entire length.
