Electric compressor motor that isn't starting by itself. Quick and easy no cost repair.

If the motor Hums, buzzes, or trips the breaker this will generally solve it.

You bid for me up and running again with the house projects after an old table saw I just bought just hummed when started, even after firing up the first time. Cheap and easy fix for a guy that's never opened up an electric motor. Piece of cake. Thank you!

Short and straight to the point. That is what most viewers are looking for. Too many have to give you their life history, like anyone really cares. Thumbs Up!

Very nice. Got the original motor or my Atlas Bandsaw, (Model 912, about 65 years old), and it's doing exactly what you're describing. YouTube is the place you go when you didn't listen to your dad enough!

This was the perfect fix. I bought my Sandborn air compressor and motor 35 years ago. I was having 'hard start' problems, motor humming, buzzing on startup only. I was considering a new $150 replacement motor, but thanks to this video I fixed the problem in 15 minutes with a little piece of sandpaper. My compressor now starts up like it was new again!

Thank you for putting out this video. My motor stopped and would just hum. I cleaned the contacts like you described and the motor runs fine again. I am 62 yrs old and a tinkerer. Goes to show you are never too old to learn something. Thanks again!

I swear no matter what problem I have, I go to YouTube and I spend hours just getting jerked around with shitty videos and then I finally find your video and you happen to have. Of course, the video I need and actually makes sense and solves my problem with no matter what life problem has. It solves everything. I should just come here first God

These days I usually just take a picture of my electrical connections before I disconnect them, but sometimes I still write them down. Thanks for your time and effort you put it to make this video.

Guy sold me a really nice drill press that had this problem for only $90. Now I can fix it where I don't have to very dangerously start it by hand, meaning it is worth about $300. Thank you for creating real value in the world.

THANK YOU!!! Was able to fix my Shopsmith motor two weeks before Christmas in the middle of making presents. You saved Christmas and me $200-$400 buying a replacement.

Hello thank you for your video! I'll be sure to send this to my grand kids in Canada who are in trades school. Your mentality of finding out whats wrong, fixing things without replacement reminds me of my generation 50's where we had to make things work. We need people like you to fix government! God bless!

Just dropped by to say thank you for the insightful video. Exact same problem on my 2hp motor, same fix, fired right up after countless times humming. My only issue was getting the cover off, set of pliers, a firm grip, ever being so careful and it came off. Life safer!

Professor on the compressor. You know Quincy, Illinois is the compressor capital of the world, right? All the major players hail from there. Employees leave...start their own biz across the street etc lol kinda like Solingen, Germany was the blade capital back in the day. The take away is u 🎸 and so does Quincy and everyone else who never ceases to hone and share their craft. It's becoming rare to see. I got Much 💘 and appreciation for that

I'm an electrician, your description of how a centrifugal switch operates is text book, very well done on a clear simple explanation that totally non electrical folk should be able to understand. You also show how easy it is to save machinery from the scrapper with just 30 minutes of time and a bit of DIY.
My only suggestion would be to include the unplugged mains lead in camera shot so people can see clearly the machine is disconnected and safe, I have found over the years a couple of mis wired house sockets where the return wire is switched leaving the machine 'hot' even when turned off.

God bless you for taking the trouble to share this. You just saved me $150 - $200 for a 3HP single phase 250V motor. My problem motor is over 30 years old, but WTH, it was still working and now lives again thanks to you!

Thanks for the video. I had recently been given an old Sears Roebuck 4" wood jointer and the original motor would just hum unless I gave it a quick spin to help it get going. I watched your video and cracked the case open, dumped out a cord of sawdust from the 1950's, took a file to all the contacts, and lubed up the clutch like you said and she started right up!!! I've probably tossed 20 motors in the trash over the years, DOH!!! Thanks again and keep up the good work.

Thanks so much for this. Followed the steps on my table saw and didn't even have to clean the connections. Just had to blow the sawdust out from between them! Worked like a charm.

Old motor started buzzing and rotating very slowly in reverse direction. I found and watched your video and followed the steps you've so clearly described. The winding contacts were a bit of a devil to get to, to clean but after blowing all the dust out and it starts and runs perfectly. Thanks for the really informative video. Cheers from a very happy new subscriber, Andy.
