Another cheap Hackintosh - Mojave on an Optiplex 9020

Mojave on a $35 Hackintosh? Yep.. and you may be surprised.
This Dell Optiplex 9020 was a steal and works fantastically with MacOS Mojave 10.14, other than a few issues that I talk about in the video.

I have a Nvidia Quadro K610 card in my Hackintosh Mojave 10.14 installation.. Works perfectly..

The USB3 issue is most likely due to the port limitations that came with the new USB stack introduced in macOS 10.11 El Capitan. The problem is that, if the machine has more than 15 ports, counting each USB3 port as two ports, and keeping in mind the internal ones (internal Bluetooth will also count as one port), the ones that go over that limit will not be recognised by the system, likely leaving USB3 ports USB2 only. This can be fixed using the USBInjectAll Kext in combination with a custom SSDT (secondary system description table) that has to be tailored to the specific system you're using, which essentially amounts to telling USBInjectAll which ports to inject (up to the 15 port limit and, as mentioned, counting USB3 ports as two ports). A quite explanative guide on that topic and on how to do this can be found on TonyMacx86 called "Creating a Custom SSDT for USBInjectAll.kext". It is not the easiest thing I had to do to make my Hackintosh perfect, but it isn't that hard if you take the time to understand the basics of how this works.

to fix usb problems (likely linked to sleep problems) you should use USBInjectAll and a properly patched SSDT (all available form rehabman's bitbucket repo). for FCPX rendering, check for proper hardware acceleration support using "videoproc".

I bought two 9010’s from a college surplus sale for $25 each! Very similar specs and fantastic computers, especially after installing an SSD.

If you’re looking to buy 9010’s or 9020’s, check your local community college! Every so many years they HAVE to replace their computers, regardless of their condition. You can score great deals going down this route. Most surplus sales are in the August time frame, from my experience at least!
