I bought a scrolling table, engraver, and a router over a year ago from the Hot Wire Foam Factory. I have no regrets and they have saved me so much time and effort in working with polystyrene. Good luck and have fun getting some use out of them. I do suggest watching the DVD for ideas and familiarization with the tools and their uses.

I just saw one of the scroll table foam cutters (a refurbished model) selling on the Hot Wire Foam Factory website for $40, so I snagged it. Can't wait for it to get here so I can try it out.

What do you find yourself using the scroll table cutter for the most?

hope you make lots of cool stuff with it! the strips of foam thing might come in real handy, you could make a set of modular walls ect. very quickly. so throw down dude lets see what it does! ill buy one too.

So as far as something to use for buildings I'm using something similar to DM scotty's tilescapes combined with the universal multipliers DMG.info uses the material I've been using is bass wood and balsa wood as it's more durable and easier to work with than cork. But I've stuck with multiples of 2" for all of my tiles.
With 7 of each of the following dimensions, (2x2, 2x4, 2x6, 4x4, 6x6) I can make any size room or rooms needed also all of the 2" windows and doors for the isometric design are 2" or less so as to fit on any wall.

I never tried to cut the foam core with the hot wire tools with the paper on. With foam core I always peel off the paper if I plan to cut it with hot wire tools. Whether it is possible to cut it with the paper on, I don't know.

so is the scroll table tool basically a cheaper alternative to that hot wire cutter thermocut table? I'm seriously considering getting the table tool

How do the prices at sculpturesupply.com in Canada compare to importing directly from the states as you did? If you don't mind me asking. I've been looking at these drooling myself!
