I'm 62 yrs. old. My purchase arrives in 4 days. I've never experienced VR before. I'm glad I've lived long enough to experience this tech. :)

Wow, thanks for this information. I'm only 17 still live with my mother and we're renting so house modification is obviously not allowed. That includes sticking thing onto walls that could possibly remove paint. From what i see, no external sensors are needed and it's basically plug and play "after install the software's that are needed", and it works with steam. I'm truly looking forward to have one of these in my possession.

This is gonna be my first VR headset, very very hyped

Edit: holy crap this got a lot of attention but unfortunately i may now be branded as a traitor. I traded for a Quest with Oculus link for the portability aspect after owning the rift s for about 8 months. Was great and sometimes i regret selling it but i still have a blast in vr no matter what headset

Ok final edit: for the people asking which i prefer, it depends on what you want. If you have a meh PC and want PCVR, go rift. With the party link and my pc setup (rx580, i5, 8gb ddr4) i can no longer run blade and sorcery without massive stuttering and other issues to the point where i cant play it and its heartbreaking because that was my all time favorite vr game and now i cant play it until i upgrade my pc and get the official cable. But if you just want portability and you have a really good pc set up for link then hands down go quest

I just want to say thank you for being so thorough in your videos. I was worried about adding a DP extension cable and you tested that. I wanted to see pass through and IPD adjustment and you covered that. I'm always impressed by the quality and scope of your videos so thank you very much.
May I ask which DisplayPort extension cable you bought? Was it just a standard 2m passive cable?

Whenever I’m trying to set up something, I always hear this
“This is probably the easiest thing to set up.”
Every time though, I have the most difficult time trying to set that thing up

Thanks for the tip regarding passthrough. Biggest criticism I had about my Rift S was the fact you couldn't tilt the visor up to see when you need to, unlike the WMR headsets. But with passthrough mapped to the button, it makes playing for longer periods easier (I can easily find my Doritos packet :).

2:40 That's because you never tried to install a WMR headset. It's as simple as plug in and set the room space.

I really can't wait for an offical, fully supported, treadmill to come out. The moment i can move around in games by walking or running in place I'll be 100% satified 😌

Thank you very much for this review. It was informational and has convinced me to purchase my first VR system. But if a shame that the Oculus Go lenses go around for $70 but I’ll make do.

I had the Rift S for a week now, and it’s pretty awesome! It has some cool features, runs smoothly, fits comfortably on my head, and just looks very cool in my VR collection!

Important question. Does the software based IPD adjustment actually work just like a real IPD adjustment physical slider? My ipd is 68mm which is on the wide side, so I need to know for certain if the software ipd adjustment will really adjust for me, or else I may feel sick, or won't see the full clarity and resolution of the oculus rift s, which is seriously important.

This only factor is what's keeping me from pre ordering one, because if my eyes cannot handle the fixed lens adjustment(I think it's 62mm), I won't enjoy using it and won't be fully immersed.

Update: Valve Index preorders have been pushed back now to shipping August 31st. I couldn't bear to wait even longer so I just preordered the Rift s on Best Buy. I cannot wait! I will give my personal feedback on whether the software ipd adjustment works or not asap when it comes out.
