Multiple dogs being transported to K9 facility found dead after AC in truck fails

Authorities say at least eight dogs were found dead due to heat-related illnesses after the air conditioning in the cargo area of the truck transporting the canines to a training facility in Michigan malfunctioned. WMAQ’s Natalie Martinez reports.

The driver is negligent as they are transported as live cargo. The driver is responsible for inspection of such cargo during transport.

Pigs, cows, chickens are routinely shipped without AC to slaughterhouses.

Many suffer and die en route, they have personalities and want to live just like dogs.

Just look at the condition of all those dogs. What does the Police do, look for dogs that look like they haven't been feed for 6 month. This us the saddest thing I have ever seen.

This is the most blatant act of animal abuse I've ever heard of. What's more infuriating is that a police department is involved and claiming innocence to the driver transporting the dogs. Very sickening. RIP to those K9 that didn't make their journey. 😠

There has to be a better way to transport these dogs. They should think of them as they do themselves. Get warning lights in the cab if the trailers a/c shuts off. Have a loud annoying bell go off!

That is sickening that these dogs had to suffer like that. There were warning reports around the country about excessive tempetures during this time, yet these dogs were put on an hot truck without access to cool air and water. Who was in charge of this decision?

There is no excuse for this, anyone with half a brain would make sure every mechanical function of the transport vehicle was at 100 % before departing with even 1 dog. This is criminal animal abuse!!
