Coronavirus: Europe plans full border closure in virus battle - BBC News

The European Commission is planning to ban all non-essential travel throughout Europe's Schengen free-travel zone as more countries close their borders to try to limit the spread of coronavirus.

Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said she would ask leaders to implement the measures on Tuesday.

"The less travel, the more we can contain the virus," she said.

Meanwhile, tough new measures in France restricting movement from the home are coming into effect on Tuesday.

Back in 1944 we asked our youth to get on a ship and cross the Atlantic, meanwhile dodging torpedoes from U-boats.

If they didn’t drown and actually survived the voyage. Then they were all loaded onto a landing craft which dumped them onto a beach in the midst of a hail of interlocking MG42 machine gun fire to storm Nazi held pillboxes and bunkers.

If they survived that, then they fought across the French countryside fighting across hedgerows and In small urban environments where ambushes were set up with more MG42’s, Tiger II tanks and mortar teams.

If they survived that, they pushed eastward into the bitter cold Ardennes Forrest in the dead of winter to fight yet again—more dug in Nazis with a plethora of mechanised equipment.

If they survived that they marched eastward towards Berlin to bring the war to and end.

If they survived all of that, they were given a pat on the back, PTSD and sent home as hero’s.

Today in 2020 we have another kind of crisis where we have very simply asked for our millennial youth to—#staythefuckhome—out of respect for the health of our fellow seniors who, some of which fought the Nazis back in 1944.

They can’t and won’t even do that—because apparently, we are asking far too much of them.
