I grew up in a German household in America.

My great grandparents are from Prussia/wehymar republic. I learned German before I spoke English. But after they died and public schooling in America I have lost some of my German skills. So starting at the basics helps a lot. I remeber most of the rules like in English the word some is pronounced zomme in German because the S is a z sound. W is a V sound. So like Volkswagen in English is actually FolksVagon in German annunciation.

I am just brushing up on skills as I have a dude at work who can speak German a little better than I can. But I am more advanced in listening.
Also I understand Texas deutsch, Pennsylvania deutch or what we English call Amish talk.

I also understand some older German, as I have read my Prussian ancestors journals from the revolution here in America.

Thank you for these videos!! I'm just wondering: is there a big difference between the language people speak in Berlin and the German language in general?

Thanks for the lesson! I'm a little confused, it's said "s" is pronounced like "z", or "s" in the end of a word. But in example for last letter - Strauße, it sounds like english "sh"
