It was a reason to celebrate because after a crew's 25th mission, they got to go home. Less than a third made it. The air war in Europe was brutal.

I would hate to burst your bubble but it was called the Army Air Force at the time, and yes it was the Army Air Corps as well.

I remembered hearing of a fighter pilot at an.air show.they had put up.with.protestors all day and the protesters camped at a ground outside the airfield so he got.into has jet very early in the morning and flew iver the protesters tents with the wind sending the tents flyiing.dont think they found out who.the pilot was I wonder why they didn't 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅

although tradition, this buzzing the tower killed many crew members and took out valuable aircraft when every plane was needed. It was made into s court martial offense. It seemed ridiculous because the odds of making 25 missions were 7 in 10 plus to be killed after our last mission made it difficult to write this letters home and even receive awards posthumously 25 missions were eventually increased to 50, making the survival odds higher
