As much as I loved this ending, dos anyone else feel that they should've gone with Bill Peet's ending by having Buldeo the hunter follow and force Mowgli to lead him to the treasure under monkey city and then have Shere Khan attack and kill him. Then Mowgli would use the hunter's rifle to kill the tiger and in the end is celebrated and a hero among both humans and animals? cause for me, that would've been a great ending to see.

That's funny how Shere Khan felt betrayed. Tabaqui instantly abandoned him away from those elephants.
They were there to protect Mowgli from Shere Khan, who was outnumbered though.
