The PS5 And Unreal Engine 5's INSANE Real-time Showcase And The PS4 Keeps Selling | News Wave

We finally got to see next generation visuals after Epic introduced Unreal Engine 5 using a PlayStation 5 development kit to run the showcase in real-time. The overall tech demo was very impressive and hopefully next we get to see some games running on these systems with this fidelity. Sony released sales numbers for the PS4 and while a lot of talk is about the next generation consoles, the PS4 still continues to sell.

It's amazing to see what the Unreal Engine has become, the eponymous game dev't software to a FPS that started it all that went on to become the quintessential tool people use today and into the next generation as well. Man, you think what if they marketed their own hardware that would change everything.

I remember the PS2 staying on shelves for a good while after PS3 came out. It was only like $100 too. Depending on PS5 supply or even how cheap the PS4 gets, it's going to be a great game/streaming/Blu Ray system with a huge library of cheaply priced games for years to come. PS Now could definitely keep pushing it

I've been a big believer in what Cerny was talking about with the PS5's SSD, seeing the UE5 demo with Nanite was seeing theory put into practice. Epic have made good on Sony's promises, I can't wait to see what Sony's own studios are doing with it.

Funny how the 3ds has wallpapers, Along with different ways to display your games installed. Yet the switch seems to be stuck with nothing but the bare minimum of white or black screen still in 2020.

The concern I had with the UE5 demo is how easy it is to develop with.
I want to go into game design, but I fear that I'm on the edge of being an "idea guy" - a nonexistent role in game dev, a person who doesn't have practical skill in something.

I've hoped to learn 3D modeling, but in a million years could I have a prayer of learning THIS? Someone "explained" how "simple" this was to me, and I couldn't understand what they meant at all.

In coming years, when gamers are expecting games to look closer and closer to reality, how in the he** am I going to learn, afford, and keep up with this?

I dunno. I just have no idea how to get into this industry... everyone going into it seems like they have a well developed skill already.

Demo looked good. Still need to see more. Also I was kind of getting the impression from watching that presentation that the biggest change would be for developers to make good looking games easier with the new tech but not necessarily better than what we have now.
