Germany was seen by many as a poster child for handling the Coronavirus, but with the country loosening lockdown rules some are worried that they're set to see a second peak of infections. In this video, we will be explaining what Germany has done, how they're trying to keep infections down, and whether a second wave looks likely.

TLDR is all about getting you up to date with the news of today, without bias and without filter. We want to give you the information you need, so you can make your own decision.

TLDR is a super small company, run few people with the help of some amazing volunteers. We are primarily fan sourced with most of our funding coming from donations and ad revenue. Again, great video, but please add your citations to the description. It's a world changer for anyone that want to read more into everything you present, and it's a boost in credibility for you. Maybe I'm too early and they were going to be added in the description anyway, in which case great job!

This is the price we get in germany for combating the virus so well: The public thinks the lockdown was all uneccessary precaution and we need to reopen asap. And because the numbers are on a decline, politians oblige. So now we get to be the guniea pig for all of europe, yay!

[Full disclaimer: Opinion might me influnced by my profession. I'm a paramedic and we currently have kind of a "waiting in the trenches" feeling in the service. Everything is dialed up to eleven, because we need to be prepared, but as of right now, nothing is happening.]

Thought Germans would appreciate this: -<>-
I think that’s how you write the emoji.

I'm German.
In my opinion the relaxations came a bit early. Of course it's though for everyone as well as the economy to have a partial lockdown. But if we'd waited one or two more weeks the numbers would have gone down further, making it easier to track infections and giving more time to react if anything goes wrong
One thing I want do add: Since the numbers are low, the R-number is unreliable. Therefore the Robert-Koch-Institut now presents the smoothed R-number. Which is supposed to reflect the situation somewhat better. (Since R was bigger than 1 for a few days)

Two thoughts. One, the trend line is not a zig-zag so much as showing how the counting is done less on the weekends. Two, rather than releasing from lockdown, a more sensible approach would be to examine which countries have been most successful at stopping the virus, and copy their policies.

In my opinion almost everyone seems to be treating the virus with insufficient caution.

As fast as this week, no!

Isn't South Korea the "gold standard"?

As a german in a relatively secure region, I think the measures are too much too fast, but I agree with easing the regulations in general.

seems like the germans are keeping their heads cool and slowly opening up. while warning and keeping in mind that lock downs can return if situation worsens. Think its not a bad move.

Finland also just lifted the lockdown and I am of the opinion that we shouldn’t be taking risks with this virus

I feel like asking for our opinions as to whether Germany are right or not to lift their movement restrictions is probably not the best idea. :P

Chill guys, I live in Munich. We have a lot of space inside our city, we have a climate where in summer you can go outside and socially distance. So I go shopping : security stops you from entering until one comes out. All the shops have signs not to over crowd ... Would I rather be in the UK where 2 of my friends caught Corona (man + wife)? NFW
Sadly, the UK beat Italy for the death toll - I was so sad and amazed.
I know it's cool in the UK to "German Bash", but seriously fix the UK before you go bashing Germany

I will say though that Germany has had a more methodical approach though in ensuring to mitigate against an increase in the spread of the virus.

The UK's has been too scatter gun and has lacked any willingness to commit to developing the required man-powered infrastructure to test, trace and quarantine.

Even in France they are handing out free masks to every metro user that doesn't have any. I just feel like the UK's response has been the worst out of Europe.

Quoting BBC and British newspapers as source on an EU targeting channel seems a bad move to me. It is rather known how much those newspapers are linked to British political parties. So for EU reporting please quote EU newspapers. I know this might be harder to do as a small UK news channel, but it would be more appropriate. That said. I really like the clean reporting in your videos and I subscribe to all your channels.

The videos keep saying "around the world", but it seems the world only has a northern hemisphere according to TLDR.

Should be using Taiwan as the gold standard! But of course because of China we are not allowed to know about that!

Unfortunately, I think the second wave of the 1918 flu was the deadliest of all three, so maybe more caution, delays, and gradual change is better....

Every country that opens up risks a second wave. It's a matter of how is managed that it's avoided or made softer.
