Thanks for reacting to this history lesson, your history. Alkebulan is the original name for Africa and is one of the oldest indigenous words known to man. So there is history that come with that name, ancient history. My native people from New Zealand have heard of them and we have strong connections to them. But I'm glad you both enjoyed this Much ❤️ Asia and BJ 😃❤️

This is a serious record...i still have the original on 12 inch from all those years ago. SUCH AN UNDERATTED RECORD.

For those not from the NYC area and didn’t grow up in the 70’s, Gary Byrd was a disk jockey on WWRL a AM radio that led the way and opened the doors for WBLS and basically created Urban radio sound.

Nice one. Good to see a reaction to a quality track that's off the beaten path. Got the 12"

The lyrics were written by Gary Bryd, the song was arranged & produced by Stevie Wonder. ( all instruments Stevie Wonder ), All background vocals by Stevie Wonder and Teena Marie !

As already said a massive dance record in the UK, despite playing this for so many years (I was a Dj) it's only recently that I've listened to the lyrics (always behind the speakers) it's a fantastic record. it's also very clever and very well put together to the point I had to look up the history mentioned in it, education is a wonderful thing even at 68 years old.

The GREATEST RAP SONG ever written! NO talk of killing, murder, disrespecting women, men, your race, your parents, your family, no foul language and NO LIES, TRUTH alone! The truthful HISTORIC reciting of ALKEBULAN history of so-called Black People that carries the spirit of EXCELLENCE, Powerful and inspiring for ALL to know. This is not just a dance song or rap song it's a VALUABLE HISTORY LESSON for ALL!

Timeless tune! The 12" version is by far the best! The ONLY CD version of this is the French import disc Magnum Opus! I bought it especially for this track :) and ripped it to Apple Lossless. BEST TUNE

One of my top favourites of the time and should be released and aired right now for these times, as it is sooo relevant.I ❤️❤️ I cry with joy listening to this, pure genius! What he is saying is that we are all royalty beyond our knowledge as we are from the one infinite creator as one.🙏

I'm originally from NYC born and raised relocated to Atlanta GA 37 years ago. Gary Byrd is disc jockey l grew up on during the Black Power Movement 1960/70s era. My film production company Twelve 22 Films LLC Atlanta GA is about to tap into Our Lost Ancestral Heritage Bloodline History ancient, medieval and modern...

I heard this when it first came out in 83 and then once in 87. Radio would not play this on the regular where I was at. The strength in the content was not about the water down. This was Uncut. Everything the history Channel and various archeological shows speak on now....they way late. GARY BYRD spoke on these things in 1983.

Africans built the pyramids. Then history got rewritten by Europeans.

This song is about black pride. That is the crown.

A classic from the 80s and Stevie Wonder on the track as well, yeah this is a good one. Interesting that the song was also known as black man part 2 because Stevie Wonder made a song called black man from his iconic album songs in the key of life and Gary Byrd co-written that song with stevie.
